Book 4 of the Murderbot Diaries series

As we go deeper into the series, the stories get better and better. I liked this one! The first half is setting up the scene and the last half is action, action, action.

Bye, Ship. You were there when it counted. If a report of what had happened on Milu had gone out on a faster transport (Ship’s progress was leisurely at best) then it could have easily beat me here. They might know that a SecUnit had come to Milu, saved some humans, failed to save a human form bot, killed the shit out of three combat bots, and that Ship was the only transport who had left Milu right after all that happened.

Because of the way this story was set up, I began to wonder if the author has experience in high-tech security. Or programming. The attention to detail as far as security, sys admin, hacking, coding, bots, firewalls, drones, maintenance systems, cameras, and protocols is really impressive. She also seems to know a lot about space station architecture.

That attention to detail goes a long way to helping us understand how it is to be inside the head of the Murderbot. It’s parallel processing to an incredible degree. Whew!

She responded immediately, What are you doing here? You weren’t captured? They must have told her that, because there was nothing like that in the newsfeeds.

Disinformation, which is the same as lying but for some reason has a different name, is the top tactic in corporate negotiation/warfare. (There had been a whole episode about it on Sanctuary Moon.)
I told her, I came to help you, to get you to the port where Pin-Lee, Ratthi, and Gurathin are waiting with a company shuttle. It’s dangerous, but less dangerous than staying where you are.
Do I have a go to proceed? I know, but somehow it was easier being formal about it.
She answered immediately, Yes.

In this book, we revisit characters and storylines introduced to us in earlier books. I really like how the characters have been sussed out, and how one older woman in particular is the only person who isn’t afraid of Murderbot.

I can relate to Murderbot's desire to just watch entertainment all day long. Same, Murderbot, I would just read all day if I could.
