The Bear, S02
An exercise in frustration. Absolutely nothing happens in season 2.
We begin the season with the Bear being haunted by visions of his ex and what he said to her at the end of season 1. He’s told by everyone on the show to just call her and apologize. Does he do it? No.
At the end of season 1, Sydney gets the paperwork that would make her a partner in the business. All of season 2 she is considering it. At the end of season 2, has she signed it? No.
Worse, this season is even more screamy than the first. There's no way a commercial kitchen could run with that much discord in the kitchen and disharmony between the front of the house and the back of the house. (The big guy with the tattoos is the actual professional chef on set and he has said as much.)
The only reason to watch this is for Jamie Lee Curtis. Her portrayal of the alcoholic, loose cannon of a mother hits it out of the park.
Jamie Lee has always been firmly rooted in her body (heck, this is the first thing I’ve seen her in where she didn’t take her shirt off). She’s an older lady now, but she still very much acts with her whole body. When Jamie Lee Curtis is on the screen, it’s impossible to look away. She is magnetic.
Even with Jamie Lee and Oliver Platt holding it down, this is not worth watching unless you like to be stressed. The season ends the same way it began. Except now there’s a baby.
Frustrating. Not recommended.
