Leave the World Behind

This movie seems like a film school project. It relies heavily on a few scenes that make a strong visual impact and completely forgets about the plot.

If the point was to show that America is racist, mistrustful, xenophobic, and very scared, they did a good job. But is that a movie? Even the CGI’d animals were not convincing. Which is a shame because with the premise and the cast they could have made a good movie. They just needed a better screenplay.

If the adults really understood what was really happening - that America had taken a deep hit to its infrastructure - how could they sit around casually drinking wine and smoking weed in the evenings when they should be discussing how to grow their own food and how they are going to gather supplies when the wine and the weed run out?

Further, so many plot holes were left open: the son with a serious infection, the Mexican lady searching the neighborhood for her people, the two airplanes that went down on the neighbor’s house with bodies strewn everywhere, the empty house with the stocked bunker.

Are we to believe that the bunker solves all their problems? Where are the first responders of upstate New York?

This is a dumb movie that states the obvious.
