The Last Emperox
Book 3 of the Interdependency trilogy
Excellent! With this novel, the author does a great job of sewing up the various plot lines of the series in a way that isn’t obvious.
The story moves so fast; it’s a pleasure to keep reading just to see where the story is going. There is a good balance of love interest, assassinations, plot turns, fake murders, coup attempts, friendship, and science stuff.
On the top floor of the Guild House building, in the great conference room set aside for the use of the governing board of the House of Wu, where Deran Wu stood at the head of the immense table and offered this opening line, the governing board of the House of Wu, to a person, stared at Deran as if he had just ripped an enormous fart directly into their faces.
This author does a superlative job of developing characters, naming things, and dialog. The baddies are outrageously bad, the names of the spaceships are legendary, and the dialog is always punchy and hilarious.
The names of spaceships in this novel are: White Spats and Lots of Dollars, Our Love Couldn’t Go On, That’s Just Your Opinion, Sir, and This Indecision’s Bugging Me. LOL!
Five minutes for a break, which Grayland mostly spent in the toilet. If someone had informed Cardenia Wu-Patrick early on that one of the most valuable skills an emperox could cultivate was the ability to clamp down on their excretory functions for hours at a time, she might have passed on the gig.
One thing I like about this series is that every time the reader thinks we know where the story is going, we’d be wrong.
It's a delightful read until the very last words. Totally recommended!
