I wasn’t sure if a re-watch of this movie from my childhood would be worth it, but I actually enjoyed it even more as an adult.

It’s a hilarious, peak Mel Brooks film full of parodies of Star Wars and a bunch of other famous cultural phenomenons and movies (like the Wizard of Oz), but with a smutty, slightly Jewish undertone.

I laughed out loud several times from the absurdities, slapstick comedy, and clever spoofing.

John Candy is ‘Barf', the Chewbacca-like character; Rick Moranis is Darth-Vaderish 'Dark Helmet', and Joan Rivers has a supporting role as the voice of the C3PO-like side-kick. Dom DeLuise has a cameo as does the guy who did the voice effects in the Police Academy movies.

It’s funny and is a great reminder of the cultural influence and genius of Mel Brooks.
